Flagship Programme
Funda SizwaneStrong Foundations, Brighter Futures
Every child deserves to learn in a language they understand. Funda Sizwane gives Foundation Phase learners from Grade R through Grade 3 the literacy foundation they need to thrive, in their mother tongue and beyond.
Funda Sizwane delivers targeted, systematic, and explicit literacy instruction to early learners who are at risk of falling behind. By intervening early in the language children know best, we prevent the long-term academic gaps that follow struggling readers into high school and beyond.
Our approach is directly aligned with the Department of Basic Education’s Goal 1: increasing the number of Grade 3 learners who master minimum language and numeracy competencies by the end of each year.

Cultural Identity
Preserving and using mother tongue fosters pride, belonging, and cultural continuity.
Academic Success
Learners proficient in their home language are more likely to excel across all subjects.
Impact
Closing Learning Gaps
Learners catch up to grade-level expectations, preventing gaps from widening over time.
Early Intervention
Timely support reduces dropout risk and prevents long-term academic challenges.
Confidence & Motivation
Children develop confidence, motivation, and a lifelong love of reading.
Stronger Communities
